Me,Myself et Moi

My photo
Buenos dias world
As I am new to this I thought I would share a few little facts about myself..that is if you're interested

1. Im a half mexican, half turkish (Mexish) born and bred english girl so techincally I am a mongrel.

2. Travelling is an addiction of mine. I find it hard to stay in one place for a long time as I think that this world of ours was made for us to explore.

3. My obsession with food is a little extreme. I used to be one of those girls at school who would ask 'Are you going to finish that?' I love pretty much everthing apart from brussel sprouts and zucchini. I would ban them if I had the power.

4. I could not talk english until I was 6 so my nursery days consisted of Janel bitting the kids to communicate with them. But do not worry. My cannibal days are over...I think.

Cuppa please ♥

Tea cures everything...well almost everything. Drinking around 6 cups a day is usual for me, especially now that the cold weather has made a way into our lives once again. Normally I can not have a warm tea without having some nice biscuits to go with it, otherwise I just think what is the point? (I know I have a problem) But apart from my crazy addiction, I also enjoy having a mug which I can call my own and that I know will always be there to keep me company during the frosty winter days. Whilst browsing on the fabulous website Not on the highstreet, I found a mug that I think will make the biscuit lovers out there a little happy...or maybe just to Dora ♥

Starbucks Mug! I am not sure if they sell it in the UK though but they can be found on the internet. Who said that warm knitted jumpers were just for humans...

Je t'aime ♥

As the days are getting darker earlier and the nights colder, I have found that tucking into bed is usually a lot earlier than usual. But instead of immediately paying a visit to the land of dreams, I turn on my laptop and decide to watch a french film. This week I have been hooked on them and possibly it is because I am trying to keep my ability to talk and write french to a passable level or perhaps I have been eating just a few too many macarons and been feeling the frenchness. I have learnt le francais for about 10 years and having the opportunity to work in the wine fanatic country, has made me admire their culture,  fashion, architecture, film...oh yes and how could I forget their food!

Audrey Tautou is one of my favourite actresses and I have seen her in many great french films. Some of you may recognise the beautiful miss from her great performances in "Amélie" or "Coco Avant Chanel". There is just something about her that I admire and I suppose if I could describe her in one word, it would most certainly be 'mignonne'.

I have travelled a bit around France but le marvelleux Paris is certainly one of my favourite places to explore. It has been a few years since I payed the city of love a visit but it certainly is on my to-do list for 2011, even if it is just a few days with me, myself and I. When I think of Paris I immediately think cafes, romance, passion, elegant fashion, exquisite food, smokers everywhere, more romance, perhaps women with their sweet little dogs...and I could go on and on. This is the place that we have all come to adore but one needs to explore outside this safety zone in order to get a feel for the true lifestyle.

I will not even start going on about talking about french designers as I could be here all day. However during the past few weeks I have learnt more and more about the way the French enjoy portraying their sense of style. At the moment I am reading the biography about Coco Chanel by Justine Picardie and I can certainly say that she was no ordinary designer but I guess anyone could see that from her brilliant work.
So I guess I must love you and leave you as mon pain au chocolat is calling me but I will depart and let you ponder on one of my favourite french quotes.

Je me suis souvent repenti d'avoir parlé, mais jamais de m'être tu.

I have often regretted having spoken, but never for having not.
De Commynes.
PS. If you have never watched a french film and intend you to do so. Add the subtitles, sit and relax. You never know, you may end up enjoying it!

Merry Crimbo ♥ from Topshop

It has been a while since I have actually been home for the day when Santa is kind enough to leave me a little gift under the tree. As much as I love my mother's Christmas dinner, I still somehow manage to run away to another part of the world and celebrate it there. I still have not found an answer why I do this but I blame it on my crazy addiction of being a jet-setter. I just feel that life is too short and we need to seize every opportunity we get and do what we love to do the most, what ever that maybe.

And so once again, I am off this year back to see my furry friend, Mr Koala and soak up in the sunshine with Nemo and the gang, that is if they are still there of course. But before I set out on my 23h journey, I would most certainly like to pay Topshop a little visit and hopefully purchase a little something from their Christmas collection, whilst devouring on a Lola cupcake. Who ever had this marvelous idea of selling these cupcakes in the store is a genius! Shopping and eating a lovely treat? I could not think of a better day ♥

Brilliant Bee ♥

Growing up I was never much of a dessert lover and would have always considered myself as a 'starter' sort of lady when in a restaurant. Of course that would not stop me from having a delicious treat with my warm cup of Tetley tea curled up in my cosy bed. However as the years have gone by, something drastically changed in my taste buds and they started to go all crazy on me demanding anything sweet-like. My biggest downfall are biscuits. I simply can not sit there and eat just one biscuit...I need to have a few or rather the entire packet in order to feel satisfied! Très terrible, je sais! And for those who know me, well you know by now that I am the number one cookie monster.

Right, enough about myself. I would like to introduce you to Bee's Bakery. A lady who loves to bake and calls herself a 'moonlight baker' but some of these cakes and biscuits look just too good to be made by a moonlighter. For the Jammy Dodgers fans out there, I wanted to share with you Bee's very own jammy biscuits which look delicious and even better... she will cut any word that you desire into the Dodgers lookalike! So if you have always wanted that chance to say something naughty to someone in a biscuit, well here is your chance!

One for my Welsh puppy ♥

Another delightful little fact about this business is that the biscuits are delivered to your front doorstep in a cute Italian three-wheeled van! Now, we do not get many of those around these days do we! Bee will be around various markets during the festive season so look on her website or on Facebook to see where abouts you can track her down ♥

A powerful lens ♥

I am sure that most of you would have seen the photo above. It is a very powerful image that makes you think of all the petty times you were upset for the most insignificant things, without realising what true sadness meant.  Steven McCurry is another of my favourite photographers. He is a very talented travel photojournalist and has that special eye for capturing breathtaking photos. I may have never met the man in person but yet I feel as if I could sit there and converse with him for ages asking questions about his travels and about his work. I can not help but to feel a rush of emotions every time I see one of his pieces and then I stop and think to myself, "If only everyone could see the world the way Steven has done, how different the world would be." Below are a few of my favourite photos taken by the one and only McCurry himself.

Friday Giggles ♥

Friday afternoon and I am squashed in a train along with the other passengers, all of us waiting to reach our individual destination. Some of us may huff and puff during the journey home but I simply enjoy to 'people watch' as firstly, I find it rather interesting looking at certain passengers and figuring out their life story and secondly it makes my boring train ride home seem a lot quicker! And so whilst observing my 'train buddies' on the tube, I came across this particular man, roughly in his 50's I would say, who was reading this small book and giggling to himself as if he were a child again who had just heard the word 'shit' for the very first time. I was intrigued to find out what it was that was making this man oh so very content on a Friday afternoon. I peered over his shoulder, and I saw that he was reading a book about cats...yes cats. However the book mainly consisted of cat photographs with small captions on each one. I could not possibly think what this grown man could find so funny about these photos but then I sneakily looked over again and read a few of the captions and I will not lie... I did have a little giggle to myself as well. The more I kept on reading HIS book, the more I kept laughing.

I knew that sooner or later I was going to get caught which I most certainly did. The old man (who I shall call Fredric) turned and looked at me with that certain gaze of "Why on earth are you laughing you bizarre child?". But to my surprise, all he said with a sweet smile was " I see that you like the book." and he kept on reading. His short and sweet comment did leave me a little shocked but at the same time put a giant smile on my face, as if someone had just placed a whole packet of chocolate Hob Nobs right in front of me. The best thing is that I managed to grab the name of the precious book for all of you cat-lovers out there.

How to Take Over Teh Wurld: A LOLcat Guide 2 Winning by Professor Happycat and icanhascheezburger.com

There was no particular reason for writing this post but I guess I wanted to share with you that no matter how insignificant something may be, it could make your day. ♥

As you can tell I get amused easily.

PS. I almost forgot. My second giggle of the day was due to the makeover of My Little Pony. It brought back memories of when Dora used to collect these toys but I find these modern and updated versions just simply ridiculous!

I can't help but love this one as I ♥ Chewbacca
